Sonny Starr was raised in the early 1960s in the little Northwestern town of Sumner Washington. His father "George" worked as an inspector at Boeing. Sonny was the 2nd of three children.

 In 1965, Sonny, his sister "Chrisandra" and their parents picked up and moved south to Winston Oregon. His father began work as a manager at the local grocery store. His mother "Carolyn" gave birth to her third child "Sherise" shortly after the move.
 

Sonny's parents were very musical. His mother was a wonderful singer and played the guitar. His father played the saxophone.

His mother loved Hollywood. As a child, her father took her to see all the latest films. She can still remember those magical days in front of the silver screen. As she grew older she passed her love for Hollywood on to her children. Sonny can remember her singing some of the old songs from her favorite pictures.

As sonny grew older he began thinking about show business. Besides from playing football he joined his high school's choir. He was also part of the drama class.

                                           


After joining the Army reserves, Sonny went to College to earn a degree in the field of Communications. At the same time he worked part time at a new radio station in Winston. He later worked at the top 40 station KRSB in Roseburg. During the week he would travel back to Eugene to attend school.


 

  In 1987, after graduating, Sonny joined KORE radio. It was the first station in Oregon's 2nd market, founded in 1927. He was hired at first for his background in basketball. He had worked as the play by play announcer for the local high school at his previous position. Sonny began working a board shift. Later he became the announcer for NWCC basketball.

In 1988 he began hosting a radio program called, Bookreview. He interviewed author's all across the nation and around the world. It became a very popular show and remained on the air for 17 wonderful years.
 
That same year (1988) Sonny married the girl of his affections. Michele had just moved up from California the year before . The two were a perfect fit. In 1989 they had their first child, Jennifer . In 1992 their 2nd daughter came along, Little Laurie. Two years later Stephanie was added. Finally in 1999 Shawn was born.
 
In 1999 Sonny's name was suggested to network executives with the national, Family Radio Network. The position of Operations Manager at KQFE, Part of the national network was available. They sent a representative up from California and signed Sonny on the spot. His agreement with Family Radio included hosting a Radio program (For the Record) on the network.


Sonny is currently Program Director at KORE. He is now Northwest regional representative with Family radio and is the Chief Operator at both KQFE in Eugene Oregon and KYOR in Newport Oregon. He also oversees operations at KJVH in Longview Washington. Sonny remains host the program, (For The Record).

Sonny also serves as Vice-President on the Board of Directors at Support Christian Broadcasting.

'Starr Talk' is Sonny's latest project. The Classic Hollywood talk show has become the nations top show of it's kind and is hear around the world. Each week he plays host to some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Plus, Sonny writes a column for The Springfield Times called "Classic Hollywood At A Glance". It touches on classic films with a fun features and exciting facts.
Finally Sonny is the Studio Head of Sun Star Studios, a working studio which produces (For the Record) on the Family Radio Network and (Starr Talk with Sonny Starr). They also produce Sun Star At the Movies, a monthly publication on Classic Hollywood. Remember, A large part of the radio programs hosted by our Studio Head, Sonny Starr are available to you FREE!!!!
